The Southern New England Chapter (SNEC) is the Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island local affiliate of a
national organization, the Society for Industrial Archeology.
We're archeologists, historians, engineers and just plain enthusiasts who cherish our nation's
industrial legacy and wish to understand and preserve its heritage.
While we have many specific interests -- including but not limited to mining, railroads, machining,
bridges, factories, smelting and more -- we share a common enthusiasm for the artifacts of the industrial revolution and understanding their impact on our society, our culture and
our lives.

Our National Organization
Formed in 1971, the SIA promotes the study and preservation of the physical survivals of our industrial and technological past, including sites, structures, buildings,
bridges, railways, canals, landscapes and communities.

SIA Membership
Both professional and amateur people with a shared interest in archeology, industry, photography, engineering and technology. Non-Profit volunteer
organization.
