Where others see rust, we see history
The Southern New England Chapter (SNEC) is the Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island local affiliate of a
national organization, the Society for Industrial Archeology.
Our society promotes the identification, interpretation, preservation, and modern utilization of historic industrial and engineering sites, structures and
equipment.
We're archeologists, historians, engineers and just plain enthusiasts who cherish our nation's industrial legacy and wish to understand and preserve its
heritage.
While we have many specific interests -- including but not limited to mills, mining, railroads, machining, bridges, factories, and iron -- we share a common
enthusiasm for the artifacts of the industrial revolution and understanding their impact on our society, our culture and our lives.
